Even Colorado bikers who enjoy 300 days of sunshine get the winter blues and have to put their bike away occasionally for a few weeks at a time. When that happens, don't just park it and walk away. Think about winterizing your ride during the winter down time.

Guerra offers these tips to riders to winterize their motorcycle - without wasting precious ride time:

▪ Battery tender. Since Colorado weather is favorable for ride year-round riding (often with leathers), bikers often miss the most simple and budget-friendly winterizing step - the battery. Guerra says, "Most people only think about their bike when it's time to ride. A battery tender is your insurance plan that your bike will start and you won't miss a munute on the road. "

▪ Maintenance. Get your bike ready for spring. Change its oil, even if it's not due for an oil change. While you are at it, why not change the filter too? You only need to drain the carbs if your motorcycle will be stored more than months. Otherwise just add fule stabilizer to the gas tank, run the bike for 10 minutes so it mixes and gets into the carbs.
